Finding the Balance
June is here! June has always been one of my favorite months of the year. I’ve always preferred warm weather over cold weather and June usually means several weeks of warmth ahead. Yep, I enjoy summertime! I’ve been thinking lately about this……
How do we balance out our life? Our lives are full of what I call plus moments (good times) and minus moments (bad times). It’s not always easy for us to take those plus moments and subtract the minus moments and equal them out to “happy life.” Melissa and I have been through our share of those minus moments, and we constantly remind each other when those times come to “Press into Him.” Minus moments are those times when we must realize we can’t do this thing called life without Him! Happy life comes when we realize the peace in our life comes from the peace of God. Pressing into Him gives us the strength we need to survive the minus moments. Once we get past a minus moment in our life, I believe we can take that experience and use it for His good by sharing our stories with others who are hurting.
- 1 Peter 5:10 - Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little.
- James 1:2 - Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy.
Now, we all love those plus moments in our life, but sometimes the good times can be a challenge too. We all love being happy and having life under control. When our finances are all in line, there’s no sickness in the family, there’s no struggles, that’s when life is rolling along nicely. But sometimes during those times, we don’t press into Him as much because we begin to think “We Got This.” Be careful during the plus moments. Enjoy them and rejoice in the good that God has given you, but don’t forget to be thankful for all of it and to keep Him tucked in close and let His light shine through you so others can see His goodness in your life.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16 – In everything give thanks: for this is the will in Christ Jesus concerning you.
- John 15:11 – “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
It’s the balance of life - finding a way to equal out those plusses and minuses. Our Heavenly Father is the key. When we trust in Him through it all, and keep Him at the forefront always, He is the balance in our life!
