Romans 5: 1-5 - Faith Triumph

“Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

I have used this scripture many times in my life. It always reminds me, no matter what affliction we are going through at this very moment it is producing something in our life. I hate to think of going through my rough times without my faith. Life can hit you right between the eyes sometimes (I know many of you in this group have personal stories that are proof of this) So, how do we get through them? Our faith in knowing EVERYTHING is producing SOMETHING inside of us. It might be producing endurance. It might be producing character. It might be producing hope. And no matter what, God’s love is being poured into our hearts during our personal struggles and heartache.

Many of you already know this, but last Wednesday our daughter Lauren, who is 27 weeks pregnant, was flown to KC Children’s Mercy/Truman Medical Center because her water broke. The baby is just a little over 2 lbs at this time and the doctors are hoping to keep her from going into labor for as long as possible. She will be in the hospital until delivery. This is the same daughter who lost her 7-week-old son 4 years ago, so her fears are very high.

Our family has been through many struggles and many heartaches. We are not strangers to walking through dark times. We are believing this precious little baby girl will get stronger every day and we will be holding her in our arms at the perfect time. And we believe Lauren will find her strength in the same place we do and she will trust God during the coming days and weeks.

I’ve spent a little extra time the past few days talking with God. He knows my heart and I know He loves us very much. Once again, we will stand strong on our faith in Him and His works in our life during ALL times, good or bad. We ask that you all put Lauren, our unborn granddaughter, and our family in your prayers. And if you’re going through your own affliction or struggle as well at this time, please know God is working through it.
